This shirt pays tribute to one of the most significant political trailblazers in American history.

Shirley Chisholm began her political career by winning a seat in the New York State Legislature and then became the first Black woman elected to Congress. In 1972 she became the first Black person to run for President from one of the major parties. During her presidential run she used the slogan “Unbought and Unbossed” to emphasize that her campaign was unbeholden to the political establishment.
